sol17-13 Will there be snow?

I am participating in the
Slice of Life Story Challenge (SOLSC).
All participants are writing about one moment, one part of their day, every day of March 2017.
A big thank you to Two Writing Teachers for providing this unique opportunity
for teacher-writers to share and reflect.

I did my part.
Painting snow pictures with shaving cream and glue.
Reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.
Doing a snow dance together.
Singing songs about snowflakes.
Reminding everyone to wear their pajamas inside out and backwards.

Will there be snow?

Typically, my preschoolers are my best clue.
I know a storm is coming because their emotions are up and down and their bodies are in overdrive.
Honestly, I didn't see any of that today.
We had a lovely day together, with lots of calm play and exploration.

Will there be snow?

Oh sure, the East Coast will see snow.
Oh sure, there will be blizzard conditions.
I'm just not sure that this storm is going to hit the Washington, D.C. area.
I think our area might very well be a bust.
The latest models show only 1" to 3" right in the heart of the city.
My fear is that our 'snow' will simply make tomorrow's commute annoying, frustrating, ugly, depressing, long.

Will there be snow?

Does anyone want snow more than teachers and students?

Will there be snow?

It's getting dark now. There are a few flakes falling. Hmmm.

Will there be snow?

  1. This was the talk all day long at my school. At this point we've already had 5 snow days, but tomorrow is already slated as an early release...unless school is cancelled. I hope you get enough snow to enjoy!

    1. If we get the day tomorrow, it will be only snow day this year. Fingers crossed!

  2. I'd be happy to give you our snow. Here in Chicago we got several inches and it's still snowing lightly.

    1. Yes, I think this is the Chicago storm that is headed to the East Coast!

  3. If you want snow, I hope you get it. I'm flying through JFK on Thursday in route to Europe; I'm hoping for less snow for that area.

    1. We haven't had a single snow day here! I'd love some. Happy travels! Are you chaperoning another group over spring break or going somewhere fun for yourself?

  4. Living in Maine, I do NOT want anymore snow days! I don't want to be in school until July. It is the week before conferences and so much to do! No SNOW please!

  5. It is unfair how the snow has been parceled out on the East Coast this year! Truly, we have seen none. I just want one day - and you to have school ;-)

  6. I don't teach anymore, but am in touch with colleagues and the grand-girls too. Not only have there been no snow days, but we've hit record temps in our snowiest months, Feb. & now March. It's supposed to be near 80 at the end of the week! Even my brother in Missouri is saying it's the warmest winter in a long time.Yes, I agree most of that snow is further than you, too Maureen. I will cross my fingers for you!!
