I had my preschoolers create individual cards for their beloved Moms, taking the time to find out their individual reasons for loving Mom. I turned their precious answers into a composite poem.

ReplyDeleteI love this line, too! I also loved how frequently the children noted how special it was "when my Mommy lets me" and "when I want to" - a real sign that these little ones don't have a lot of control over their lives! Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had spent some time talking to my preschoolers about this topic. Mine created adorable portraits of their mothers but these words are precious. What kind of discussion did you have to get them thinking about this question?
ReplyDeleteIn many respects, "Moms" were our topic of the week! I spoke individually with children as they painted flower pots for Mom. At Gathering time, we shared aloud what we loved about Mom. The individual discussions were the most rewarding - because I received genuine, heartfelt, individual answers rather than an echo of the child who just spoke!
