I love your post & it spoke to me very much. If you had been reading my posts longer you would know that I teach at an independent school whose total curriculum is based on choice of individual topic, which the core teachers & every other position in the school supports in various ways. It is a super school & you just described much of our philosophy: if it doesn't come from the child's choice of topic & further exploration, it won't 'go'.
